BOUNTIFUL, UTAH – Tech-Moms is proud to announce its selection as a continuing Fellow in Microsoft’s TechSpark Community Engagement Fellowship program. This initiative supports nonprofits nationwide that focus on building economic opportunities within their communities. With this partnership, Tech-Moms aims to empower women in Utah with inclusive digital skills training, fostering pathways to careers in technology and economic independence. As technology is changing at breakneck speed, Tech-Moms has incorporated AI tools and training into every aspect of the organization, in an ongoing effort to prepare students for the jobs of the future.
As a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women transitioning into technology careers, Tech-Moms addresses a critical challenge in Utah: the underrepresentation of women in the tech workforce. Through targeted educational programs and partnerships with local organizations, Tech-Moms has already helped hundreds of women gain confidence, technical skills, and job opportunities in the growing tech sector. This renewed support from Microsoft will enable the organization to further scale its efforts, expand access to underserved areas, and strengthen its impact in advancing economic mobility.
“During the first year of fellowship, we ran our first ever cybersecurity training cohort. Fifteen women went through an intensive, high-level training program in cyber, a field with high demand where new perspectives and insights are sorely needed,” said Robbyn Scribner, founder of Tech-Moms. “Over the last two months, our cyber graduates have been passing their nationally recognized certification tests, and last week, we had our first job placement into cyber—with many more to come. The sky's the limit for all these graduates as they move forward into this high-demand field."
“This year, we shifted our focus to use grant funding toward our first data analytics cohort of 25 women. With every module, we incorporated AI tools to help our women be prepared for how AI will transform the world of data and reporting. The exciting news is that four women were offered new jobs before even graduating from the program, and another got a new job in data this week. Finally, we are also using Microsoft funding to do rural outreach exploration, and so far, we have connected with dozens of organizations across rural Utah to plan how we can best serve women who live outside the population center of the state. As new technologies like AI are becoming more and more critical in daily life, Tech-Moms is committed to ensuring rural Utahns have access to every opportunity technology has to offer.”
Microsoft recently announced its second cohort of TechSpark Fellows, supporting organizations across the country in expanding economic opportunities. Last year’s Fellows collectively secured over $177 million in funding support, reached 48,000 community members, and collaborated with 548 partners to drive impactful change in 42 communities nationwide.
